All great adventures must come to an end

but the experience and friendships stay with us forever.

Last update: May 2025

DMG Spotlight

It's been a great run, but it's time to close the show

No Long Goodbyes, Okay?

Dave's Music Gear and Accessories began in 2017 with a small booth in a local flea market.  Expanding inventory and services over the years has been challenging yet incredibly rewarding.  The things I've learned, and more importantly, the friends I've made, will forever be a blessing to me.

I'm ready to pursue new (non-commercial) ventures with family and friends.  I'll be closing my walk-in shop (in Oswego, KS) as well as my online Reverb Shop by the end of 2025.  Look for deep discounts at both!

Thank you for a truly amazing 8 years!

New & Used Products

Some of the new and used products on hand are listed in my Reverb Shop. Items are added regularly, so check the shop often. These listings don't include products currently stocked at our Black Crow Trading Co. booth in Oswego, KS.

Here's how it works:

  • Visit my shop on Reverb.com to browse or search for available items.
  • If you have a Reverb account, you can make purchases at my Reverb Shop and have them shipped, or delivered locally.
  • If you don't have a Reverb account, you can still purchase any item listed by contacting me directly at (620) 263-2200. When your payment is received, the listing(s) will be removed from the Reverb Shop.

Local customers (whether you have a Reverb.com account or not) who make purchases directly, that don't require shipping, will receive a 15% discount from the price shown on my Reverb Shop!

If you don't find the item you're looking for, you can search for it on the full Reverb.com site. Reverb is a great way to find almost anything music related. Creating a Reverb.com account is free, easy and secure.

Of course, I hope you find what you need at Dave's Music Gear and Accessories - your local music shop striving to meet the needs of our local musician community.

mouth harps

Inexpensive mouth harps are offered by some music and novelty stores for less than $15.  But, if you want a high-quality harp that'll last for years, consider the following:

CONSTRUCTION (Design & Playability)
Mouth harps consist of a frame (corpus or body) and a spring (reed or tongue). The spring is either soldered, wedged, screwed, or crimped onto the frame. Placement of the spring between the frame arms is crucial for proper sound and function. Higher-quality mouth harp springs are more securely attached to the frame.

MATERIALS
Frames made from steel or brass and springs (reeds) of high carbon steel are typical. Material types influence timbre, volume, frequency, and other sound qualities.

QUALITY
Quality mouth harps generally have the spring soldered or bolted onto the frame to keep it secure.  Inexpensive mouth harp springs are often just crimped in place.

SOUND
Sound is produced by pressing the frame arms against your teeth as you pluck the spring (also called a reed or tongue), making sure it's free to vibrate. The vibrations resonate and amplified from your mouth.  The sound is altered by opening and closing your throat, gently moving air past the spring, and reshaping your mouth.

Listening to samples of different mouth harps can help in making a selection.
